Katherine Patapan

Katherine is an Analyst at NineSquared’s Sydney office, bringing expertise in desktop research, qualitative assessment, and analysis. She recently contributed to a review of maritime safety governance in Victoria, documenting stakeholder feedback and synthesizing findings to shape the final report. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (Honours) with a focus on Politics from the University of Queensland and has diverse experience across the public and private sectors.

Select Project Experience

• Victorian Maritime Safety Governance Review at Commercial Ports– Katherine conducted interjurisdictional research on maritime safety governance frameworks to review Victorian commercial port systems. She supported stakeholder engagement for a current state assessment and highlighted key governance risks.
• Review of the Local Government Road Safety Program– Katherine contributed to the Local Government Road Safety Program review by comparing national and international road safety programs to develop a best-practice model. She assisted in stakeholder consultations, helping shape recommendations to align the program with a Safe Systems approach.
• Advisory Services for the development of a refreshed Victorian Freight Plan– Katherine worked as a part of the project team providing advisory support to the Department of Transport and Planning in Victoria on the development of a refreshed freight strategy.
