Background
Natural disasters have a significant social and economic impact across Queensland. The Queensland Reconstruction Authority plays an important role in coordinating the recovery of Queensland communities from these natural disasters. The Authority required the development of a Discussion Paper on the role of the insurance industry in natural disaster recovery.
Our Role
NineSquared undertook a comprehensive literature review of the role of private sector insurance in natural disaster recover. This was augmented by structured stakeholder interviews, including with representatives from the insurance industry, local governments and State Government service delivery agencies.
Results & Relevance
The review identified opportunities for insurance experience improvements for Queensland communities. It identified areas where State Government agencies could assist natural disaster insurance outcomes through risk mitigation initiatives.
