NineSquared was engaged to undertake a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) of proposed redevelopment of the Kingaroy Hospital. The cost-benefit analysis evaluated proposed upgrades and expansions to the 79 year hospital costing $62 million. The CBA estimated the additional benefits to the community and patients of the hospital that would flow from expansion in overall bed capacity from 46 beds to 66 beds as well as the establishment of a new state of the art renal unit.

To evaluate these benefits, NineSquared estimated a number of benefits including the benefit of reductions in mortality and morbidity resulting from the hospital being able to treat more patients, reductions in the cost of transferring patients to over hospitals because of capacity issues and the benefits associated with more renal patients being treated closer to their place of residence. Together these benefits were estimated to be worth more than $95 million to the local community or more than $1.30 for every dollar spent on the project.
